Christmas Tree Candy Skewers

Do you need a last minute gift ideas for teachers, bus drivers, choir directors, etc? These Christmas Tree candy skewers are simple and quick to make! All the supplies you need are available here at Toyrifix (and at The Oak Cupboard, next door!)

Supplies needed:
1 ¾” circle punch,
1 ¼” circle punch
¾” circle punch
star punch
green double-sided paper
yellow cardstock
glitter
1/16” handheld circle punch (or paper piercing tool to poke a small hole)
large or 3-D glue dots
bamboo skewer (available at The Oak Cupboard)
candy (purchased at The Oak Cupboard)
cellophane bag (double-pretzel bag purchased at The Oak Cupboard)

1. Punch 3 circles of each size from the green paper. For the 2 larger circles, fold paper in half, then in half again. Then fold each side back against the opposite edge, so your paper is creased in wedges. For the smallest circle, simply fold in half twice.

2. Punch a tiny hole in the center of each and thread onto the skewer, starting with the smallest circles first from the pointed end and slide to the top. If your green paper has different patterns on each side, you may want to alternate the patterns. Continue threading circles on the skewer from the pointed end.

3. Apply glitter to your star in whatever way you choose, and adhere to the top of the skewer (the blunt end) using glue dots.

4. Slide candy onto the skewer, using extreme caution. Because the candy is “gummy” it doesn’t slide well, so be careful not to poke yourself with the point of the skewer. Leave some room at the top, under the tree to tie the cello bag shut. Continue adding candy until skewer is full.

5. Slide the skewer into the cello bag, and secure with ribbon. Add a tag, if desired. Adjust circles of tree for spacing, etc. and you’re done!

(The inspiration for this design came from andreawalford.com. A video tutorial for making this treat can also be viewed at that site!)

Happy stamping!

And a fun time was had by all!

The New Product Showcase this past Thursday night was a huge success, and a lot of fun! I was so happy to see so many of you, and I hope you enjoyed your evening! I was very nervous about how everything was going to work out, and definitely did not need to be! The demonstrators (Anita and Sherri) were super, and those Make & Take ladies (Darlene and Sandy) did a fabulous job! The refreshments were just the right little treat for the evening, and Rachel (my one paid employee for the evening!) was a huge asset to me and worked like a machine that evening helping me set up and everything. We both headed out at 10:00 p.m. exhausted but happy with how fun the evening was!

Here are a few pictures to share!

For those of you wanting instructions for the little pumpkin basket that Anita was making, you can find it here on the Stampendous website. There are still a few of those pumpkin stamp sets left, so come in and get yours before they're gone! And for those of you with $5 bonus coupons from the evening, don't forget they're only good through October 23rd!

Several of the stamp sets from Just Rite Stampers were sold out on Thursday night. My plan is to get more ordered over the weekend, so that they have the order Monday morning. They always ship within 24 hours, and the shipments takes a day to arrive from Illinois. So I'm hoping it arrives by Thursday for any of you that would like to buy a few more things with that bonus coupon!

I'll have pictures of all the samples that were made just as soon as I can! Friday ended up being a really crazy day at the store as many schools were apparently off for the day and we had a ton of customers. I spent too much time having to sell toys than getting to do anything remotely related to the stamping department, so I haven't had a chance to take pictures of everything yet! Stay tuned!

My deepest thanks again to everyone for coming out on Thursday night, and I truly hope you had an enjoyable time! I'd like to have an evening like this at least twice a year, so be watching your newsletter for another Showcase in April 2009!

Projects from the New Product Showcase (Just Rite Stampers)

Here are pictures of all the fun projects that Sheri created for the New Product Showcase on Thursday evening! Sheri really took to these products from Just Rite Stampers, and created some fabulous designs to inspire your creativity! What was your favorite? I can't pick just one!

*Caramel Apple Kit inspired by Michelle Wooderson*

Projects from the New Products Showcase (Stampendous)

Here are pictures of all the fun projects that Anita created for the New Product Showcase on Thursday evening! She did such a fabulous job with Stampendous' new Shape Shifting Technique on the pumpkin and snowman! And who didn't LOVE those Angel Wings on the acetate! I can wait to try that on some projects myself!

Countdown to the New Product Showcase!

It was great to see so many of you at the Adventures in Stamping show in Strongsville on Saturday! I hope you find some great ideas while browsing the booths! If there's something I can get for you that you saw and regret not buying, just let me know! Did you see the Toyrifix ad in your program? I was very excited to get an advertisement in there, and plan to do so again in the Spring! Everyone in Northeast Ohio needs to know what a great little store we have here!

We're counting down to the New Product Showcase on Thursday evening, and are really excited to see so many of you have bought your tickets! There is still some space available, so give us a call or stop in soon to get your spot reserved! You can read all about the Showcase at this post!

My demonstrators are hard at work preparing their final projects, and my Make-and-Take ladies are excited to help you with our little project! The refreshments are going to be yummy! And I've got some nice door prizes just begging to be won by you! Everyone in attendance has a chance to win!

Please call or email if you have any questions! I can't wait to see YOU on Thursday evening!

NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE

There is still time to get your tickets for the NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE coming up on Thursday, October 16th, but they are selling fast and I know you don't want to miss this event! Here are the details...

"In an effort to continually showcase what's new and trendy on the stamping scene, we've decided to replace the yearly Winter Stamp Workshop in January with this New Product Showcase on October 16th! We are very excited about this change, and hope you will be also. As more new products appear on the horizon this winter, we'll bring them to you in the spring with another showcase!

So come spend an evening in the Toyrifix Stamping Department! We'll be showcasing many new products that were introduced over the summer with several in-store demonstrations including new Cuttlebug items, new products from JustRite Stampers, and Christmas stamps from Stampendous. We'll also have a make-and-take, door prizes, and light refreshments. There is a $5.00 registration fee for this event. However, if you spend $50 on the night of the workshop, you will receive a bonus coupon for $5.00 off your next stamping purchase at Toyrifix through October 23rd.

Registration can be done at the store, or by phone with a credit card. You must have the "ticket" you are given when you register for admission on the night of the workshop. (Phone orders can have their tickets mailed to them!) We hope to see YOU at the workshop!"

Copic Markers

Just a quick note to let you know that I have added over a dozen new colors recently! AND I'll be demonstrating them again on Friday, October 24th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. for those of you that missed the demo the first time! I hope you'll have time to stop in!

Happy stamping!

My Favorite Things

My Favorite Things will be releasing several new stamp sets this evening! I did not get around to placing a pre-order yet since I was gone so much last week at a trade show. I don't always order all their new releases, so if you see something you want please let me know! I may not place an order this time around unless I have several orders that need to be filled!

Call the store at 330-669-3737 or email me at Tammy@toyrifix.com

Thanks!

New Products!

Things are hopping in the Stamp Department at Toyrifix! You should see your October copy of the Stamp News in your mailbox very soon, with a lot of new products for you to check out and news of upcoming events.

One of the biggest bits of news is the upcoming New Product Showcase! The last newsletter mentioned this event that was to be held on October 9th. Due to some conflicts, that date has been changed to October 16th, so please take note of that. Moving the date just slightly gave me just a little more time to get some new things in line, and avoided a big time crunch with the Toy Sale going on on October 4th. You can read all about the upcoming Showcase in the newsletter! Email or give me a call if you have any questions! Space is limited for this event, and tickets are moving fast so be sure to call or stop in soon to purchase your ticket for this event!

A few new shipments have come in lately including more Fall and Christmas stamps from Indadinkado, as well as Christmas stamps from Hero Arts. We also have a new and exciting line of "paints" from Shimmerz! Shimmerz have been used occasionally with the Stamp of the Month program and also in a recent stamp class. They're just gorgeous and add a lot of pizzazz to your card or project, so we now carry 30 different colors! Shimmerz are applied using a dry paint brush, and at only $3.99 each, they're very reasonable as one jar will last you quite awhile. To see some gorgeous samples using Shimmerz, stop by their blog and see what the Shimmerz design team has created! My friend Kisa is one of their team members, and she really knocks out some gorgeous work by painting the Shimmerz onto flowers! (click on the word "blog" above to be taken to the Shimmerz blog).

And just a note, I will not be back in the store until September 29th as I'll be attending a trade show at the Gary Burlin Company in Cleveland for the next 4 days. I'm going to be taking some awesome classes including learning more about the whole line of inks from Tsukineko, a class on Copic Marker Mania (I can't wait for that one!), and more about Nestabilities from Spellbinders! If you have any questions or needs, the staff at Toyrifix should be able to assist you very well (or they can reach me!) I'll be back on Monday! Have a great weekend!

Fun, new ribbon!

Check out this fun, new ribbon we just got in stock from May Arts! I'm calling it Fuzzy Dot ribbon, and it is the most fun ribbon you'll ever use! It's incredibly soft, and I just love the colors. It reminds me of a chenille bathrobe! There are only 10 yards on a spool, so it's going to go fast! Stop by soon to pick some up at just $1.00/yard!

New stamp releases from My Favorite Things should be here on Thursday, plus I hope to see more Cuttlebug folders and Nestabilities arriving by September 12th!

There are still openings available for the Shop 'Til You Drop stamp classes on Tuesday September 16th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 30th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Call the store to register by phone with a credit card, or stop in soon!
